Illegal Immigrants ‘checked in’ at the cells

These the Operation Festive Season campaign roadblocks will be regularly seen in and around Emalahleni during the holiday season.

Three illegal immigrants will be spending time behind bars while being processed by immigration authorities after they were arrested at one of the Operation Festive Season campaign roadblocks held in eMalahleni.

The roadblocks were held on the Verena Road and Old Ogies Road as part of the ongoing SAPS Operation Festive Season campaign.

Focus on safety and compliance

Police spokesperson Captain Eddie Hall said the objective of the operation was multifaceted: to ensure full compliance with the Road Traffic Act, significantly enhance police visibility, and maintain safety across major routes during the busy festive period.

“During the extensive operation, police stopped and thoroughly inspected numerous vehicles,” Hall said.

The checks focussed on illegal items, dangerous weapons, and ensuring all motorists were in compliance with road traffic laws.

The Acting Station Commander of Witbank SAPS, Colonel Nonhlanhla Kgosana, has commended members for their dedication and visibility during two successful operations.

The colonel firmly emphasised that these high-visibility crime-prevention operations will continue unabated throughout the festive season.
