Rain isn’t merry in eMalahleni

The heavy rains are causing more damage in the City of Coal.

A local resident has been left heartbroken after heavy rains, intensified by a sudden hailstorm, caused her home to flood in Klipfontein.

The storm that occurred on November 30 struck the community late in the evening, with hailstones battering rooftops before being followed by relentless rainfall.

The downpour quickly overwhelmed drainage systems, leaving several households vulnerable to flooding.

Among them was a woman who watched in despair as water poured into her home, damaging furniture, appliances, and treasured belongings.

“We have a lot of damage, and we don’t even have money to replace the damaged things,” the woman said with heavy emotions.

As the rain continued, the woman had to mop and drain the water out, as it kept flooding the house.

eMalahleni seem not to find the ‘merry’ in the recent rainfalls as numbers are crying about how their property is being damaged, fences being destroyed, roads being destroyed, and some are found to be undrivable.

The recent storms further left some heartbroken in Kromdraai as their tributary are overflooded, making it hard for them to cross in the area.
