K Mother of Nations proves that ‘good souls’ come in pairs

Koketso’s heart goes out to a local company, which made it possible for the foundation to grace the school.

The Koketso Mother of Nations Foundation, also known as K Mother of Nations, has recently visited a local school, Sibongindawo Primary, and donated 30 pairs of shoes to learners in need.

Held on January 19, the initiative was born out of a story shared with the founder of the foundation, Koketso Nobela, years ago. She recalls being approached by her brother’s friend, who told her that many learners at Sibongindawo were attending school without proper shoes. At the time, Koketso did not have the resources to assist, but the concern stayed with her.

When Koketso launched her shoe drive in late 2025, Sibongindawo was the first school she thought of. Returning to the community, she ensured that learners received the support they had once been denied. For Koketso, it was about restoring dignity and ensuring that no child feels left behind because of circumstances beyond their control.

“I reached out to the principal and asked about the learners’ sizes, and they compiled the list for us to make it easy when running the drive,” said Koketso.

The initiative was made possible by a local company, which supported the drive by donating shoes.

The handover event was marked by encouragement and motivation. Vincent Nobela, a local entrepreneur invited as guest speaker, shared his personal journey with the learners. He emphasised resilience, ambition, and the importance of education as a pathway to opportunity.

“This year is a year for us to fix everything we were doing wrong back in the years,” said Vincent.

Koketso demonstrated how small acts of compassion can ripple outward, shaping futures and strengthening communities.

Born from humble beginnings, the Koketso Mother of Nations Foundation reflects the life story of its founder. As highlighted by herself, Koketso grew up in Limpopo in a mud house where her family sometimes had to borrow maize meal from neighbours just to get by. Out of this experience of hardship, she built a vision: to ensure that no child feels overlooked because of poverty.

Today, her foundation is making history in eMalahleni and beyond for providing essentials and hope to learners who need it most. At Sibongindawo Primary School, that vision was realised in a heartfelt shoe handover.
