Bloody weekend claims two lives in Coronation

Witbank SAPS is investigating cases in which two men were killed in separate brutal attacks in Coronation.

A wave of violence has hit Coronation, with two brutal attacks that claimed two lives reported over the past weekend.
The first incident occurred on February 6, around 06:10, when the police received a report about a man who was lying down, seemingly lifeless, at Coronation. Upon arrival at the scene, they found the man on the street, lying on his stomach. He had a severe head wound that appeared like he had been struck with a sharp object.

A stone was also spotted next to him. The paramedics who attended the scene declared the victim dead on the spot.

The following day, around the same hour, the police again received another report about a murder next to a ground in Coronation. When they arrived, they were met by another man who lay dead on the ground, with multiple stab wounds and exposed intestines.

The motive behind the attacks is still unknown.
Witbank SAPS is continuing with investigations into both incidents; however, no arrests have been made so far.

“We urge anyone who might have information that will assist us in solving these cases to please come forward,” said Sergeant David Ratau, spokesperson for Witbank SAPS.
