Security concerns grow as intruders strike in eMalahleni

Police urge residents to always ensure that their doors and windows are secured.

Residents of eMalahleni are urged to take extra precautions following two robberies reported last week.

According to the police, a man said on February 2, around 22:00, he locked his door and went to bed at his home in Klarinet Extension 7.

When he woke up the next morning, his work laptop, TV, cellphone, and wallet were nowhere to be found.

In another incident that occurred in the early hours of February 6 at Christiaan De Wet Street, a man reported that he had been alone at his rental place when two men he knew suddenly barged in.

The man said the men started assaulting him and searched him, robbing him of his cash amounting to R15 000.

Investigations into both cases are underway.

The police advice people to always make sure to secure their doors and windows to avoid house robberies.

“Report any unusual or suspicious activity to the police, and lastly, know your surroundings and neighbours so that it can be easy for you to get help,” said Warrant Officer David Ratau from Witbank SAPS.
