House robbery is a thing in eMalahleni – criminals even know your name

A man was allegedly held at gunpoint, assaulted and robbed of his belongings at his home last week.

Witbank Police are investigating a case of house robbery after a man was allegedly held at gunpoint and robbed of his belongings by unknown men.

The man told the police that on May 2 at around 21:00 he was allegedly called by his name and he opened his door thinking that one of his neighbours is calling him.

To the man’s surprise, a stranger allegedly got inside his house instead, and allegedly pointed him with a firearm.

The alleged robbers then allegedly demanded his cellphone and bank card.

As that was not enough, the alleged robbers went to his car, took his wallet and then flee the scene.

“Beware of who you open for, especially late at night.

Criminals’ traps are always ahead of your expectations. Be vigilant always,” Witbank Police Station spokesperson, Captain Eddie Hall, said.

The Witbank Police is urging the society to always be on the lookout as criminals are everywhere and with new traps every day.
