She’s made it to the finals – now Abigail Mbuyane needs our support to bring the Miss Mpumalanga crown home

A young woman with purpose, passion, and pride for her community has made it to the Miss Mpumalanga 2026 finals, and she needs your votes to take the crown.

Dreams are turning into reality for 24-year-old Abigail Mbuyane, who has been officially announced as a Miss Mpumalanga 2026 finalist. Now, she is calling on her community to help her bring the crown home.

“And now I am a Miss Mpumalanga finalist. This is not just about me; it’s about every young girl in my community who dares to dream beyond her circumstances. I carry them with me on this journey,” Abigail said.

Born and raised in Klarinet, Abigail grew up in the City of Coal, attending Laerskool Panorama and matriculating at Hoërskool Patriot.

She is now pursuing a bachelor’s degree in information and communication technology at the University of Mpumalanga.

Reflecting on her upbringing, she said,“Growing up in eMalahleni taught me resilience. It’s a community full of potential but also real challenges. My journey to becoming a Miss Mpumalanga 2026 finalist wasn’t just about beauty; it was about purpose. I decided that if I was going to stand on a bigger stage, it had to be for something bigger than me.”

Abigail is using her platform to advocate for mental health awareness and digital literacy, causes inspired by her own experiences growing up.

She explained, “Growing up, I used to look up to women who used their platform to educate, to empower, and to create change. I, too, then realised that I have a message and mission worth sharing, so I wanted a space where I could speak about mental health awareness and digital literacy, and I saw pageantry as an opportunity to combine leadership, influence, and service.”

Her journey hasn’t been without challenges.

Abigail admits that self-doubt and fear were obstacles she had to overcome,“Self-doubt and fear were two of my biggest challenges as I grew up shy. But I overcame those obstacles by focusing on growth. I invested in learning, self-development, and strengthening my advocacy and setting a constant reminder that everything I want is actually on the other side of fear.”

Abigail credits her family for keeping her grounded,“My biggest support has been my parents, family, and the people who believed in me even before I became a finalist. They constantly remind me of who I am when I feel overwhelmed. Their belief in me keeps me grounded and motivated.”

She also emphasised the responsibility of representing her community on a provincial stage, “It feels like an honour and a responsibility. I carry my community with pride. I represent young girls who may not always feel seen or heard. Being on this stage means showing them that their background does not limit their future.”
