eMalahleni community unites for 33rd night race at Panorama

The event brought together residents from all over eMalahleni and beyond for a fun night filled will good competition.

The Laerskool Panorama sports ground was filled with loads of excitement as the community of eMalahleni and beyond gathered for the 33rd annual night race.

Organised by Volkswagen, Coaldust Road Runners Club, and the school, the event hosted in the evening of February 18 brought together people from different parts of the city who participated in a 10km race and a fun run.

“The aim is always to bring the community together for a fun night,” said Johan Smit, one of the organisers from Laerskool Panorama.

The event saw participants of all ages, young and old, take to the track, with medals awarded to everyone who made it to the finish line, regardless of the time.

Gold medals were also handed out to the fastest runners in various age groups in the 10km race, as well as to the top male and female runners, and the fastest runner living with a disability.

The event also featured a market, which the organisers shared that it was also to add a relaxed, fun, and enjoyable feel to the evening.

According to Johan, this year’s event was much bigger than the previous years, with different schools coming out to show their support.

“It was a good competition on a good night,” the organiser concluded.
