Witbank SAPS seeks identity of man brutally murdered in CBD

Despite investigations into the incident that occurred late last year, the victim’s body remains unidentified.

Witbank SAPS is appealing for the community’s help in identifying a man whose body was discovered in Hertzog Street late last year.

According to the police, despite the investigations they’ve been conducting since the day of the incident on December 20, the identity of the deceased is still not known.

As a result, they are now turning to the community, hoping that someone with information might show up and lead them to a breakthrough.

The victim was found in the CBD on Hertzog Street next to the traffic department. The police said they found him stripped of most of his clothes, with just a black underwear and a floral jacket left.

“His body was covered with bruises that showed that he had been assaulted with a sjambok,” said Sergeant Mandla Zitha, a Witbank SAPS officer investigating the case.

Anyone who has a missing relative or any information regarding the incident is urged to visit Witbank SAPS station or contact the investigating officer at 078 594 2783 or 071 352 7582.
