Picnic over socialisation for the disabled brings smiles

Roelien Goosen showed up and gathered the disabled team for a fun-filled picnic aimed at socialising.

A special picnic saw the disabled having a day filled with fun, joy, and laughter.

Held on February 23, the picnic was built on the foundation of love and community spirit.

Dewald Gouws, a well-known gospel singer, graced the event with his presence with a special performance, filling the venue with smiles and gratefulness.

After his performance, the team went to Plot 37, where they sat to have some Boeresport and spray their hair, while they waited for the boerewors rolls to be ready to eat.

“The plan was for us to enjoy some of the time with them, until it is time to take them back, and it worked,” said Rolien Goosen, who is a teacher for people with disabilities.

Grietjie Naude from the Highveld Home for the Disabled said they were blessed to be part of the picnic. However, they remain in need of a helping hand as they have certain needs to be met.

“We need any kind of help at this point, even if people want to teach them some skills, exercises, and many other stuff,” said Grietjie.

The team that organised the picnic thanked all the sponsors who came on board to make the day possible.
