Be courageous and spray or shave for hope this weekend
Gather your friends, family, and colleagues and head down to The Ridge this Saturday to show solidarity in the fight against cancer.
If you missed the first opportunity to trade your hair for hope, you will get a second chance this coming Saturday.
On March 7 from 10:00 to 17:00, The Ridge Casino will join the nationwide Cansa Shavathon.
Under the theme ‘Be courageous’, the event aims to rally the community in solidarity with those battling cancer and also cancer survivors.
These events not only raise funds for vital cancer research and support programmes but also offer the community an opportunity to stand in solidarity with survivors in a fun, engaging, and meaningful way.

Makoma Raolane, Cansa’s National Sustainability Manager, said, “For people facing cancer, the loss of their hair is often emotional and difficult. It can affect confidence, dignity, and overall well-being. Our Shavathon was created to show those affected by cancer that they are not alone – every snip, every spray, and every donation sends a powerful message of compassion and support.”
The Shavathon will take place in the food court area.
Participants can shave, spray, or colour their hair to show support for cancer survivors, many of whom face hair loss as a result of treatment.
Donations start at R50 for adults and R25 for children under 12, ensuring that everyone, young and old, can participate in this life-changing initiative.

Hair donations of 25 cm or longer are welcomed for the making of wigs for cancer patients in need, with shorter lengths also accepted as fillers, as every strand counts.
Gather your friends, family, and colleagues and head down to The Ridge this Saturday to show solidarity in the fight against cancer. Every bit of courage counts.
