Sizzling braai celebrates sobriety

Residents and supporters attended the event to show encouragement for those in recovery.

Sun, laughter, and the smell of a sizzling braai filled the air as local rehabilitation centre founded by Mpilonhle Mashiane, threw an outdoor celebration for those who have chosen the path of sobriety.

The event on February 27 wasn’t just about food; it was about stories, resilience, and community.
Participants shared their journeys of rebuilding trust, facing unemployment, and overcoming judgment, all while enjoying fun games and activities. Meanwhile, Mpilonhle and others served up a braai feast, adding flavour to the day’s inspiring vibes.

Mpilonhle said, “This braai is more than a meal; it’s a celebration of courage. Every person here has fought battles many don’t see, and today we honour their journey. Sobriety is a choice, and together we show that no challenge is too big when we support one another.”

Mpiloenhle also shared that this is just one of many initiatives planned by the foundation.
