The newly built homes not only provided for the owners, but they also created job opportunities for locals during the construction process.

It was an exciting moment in Siyanqoba as 10 families proudly received the keys to their brand-new homes.

Led on March 16, the handover was a dream come true for the numbers in Siyanqoba.

The 10 houses were officially handed over by a local company, led by Omphemetse Joyce Molamu, with representatives from the Emalahleni Department of Cooperative Governance and Human Settlements present to witness the milestone.

According to Omphemetse, the project has provided not only safe and secure housing but also wider benefits to the community.

“Local residents were employed during construction, gaining valuable skills and work experience that will continue to serve them long after the last brick is laid. This approach ensures that the initiative is not only about shelter, but also about empowerment and lasting impact,” she said.

She further emphasised that this handover marks the first phase of a larger housing project.

More homes are already under construction, with additional families expected to move in before the end of July.

“By combining quality infrastructure with community upliftment, our company is helping to turn the government’s vision of sustainable human settlements into reality,” Omphemetse said.

As for the families of Siyanqoba, they believe that the homes are a symbol of opportunity and a brighter tomorrow.
