Boy child needs love too

Boys need care, steady guidance, and a safe place for their voices to be heard.

Kakarambha Foundation took its vital message to Vuma Primary School, engaging with learners about the dangers of substance abuse, the importance of good behaviour, and the value of discipline.

But what made this session on March 17 truly special was the emphasis on something often overlooked: the boy child needs love, too.

“Boys are often told to ‘tough it out’ or ‘be a man, but the truth is, they need love, care, and guidance just as much as anyone else,” said Thando Masango from the foundation.

The session focused on equipping learners with the skills to make informed decisions and resist peer pressure, with a special emphasis on the unique challenges faced by boys.

“It’s okay to express your emotions; it’s okay to ask for help. That’s what makes you strong,” Thando added.

Learners were encouraged to speak openly about their struggles and aspirations, with many sharing their own experiences with peer pressure and bullying.

“We need to show our boys that they are valued, they are loved, and they have a future worth fighting for,” he said.
