Clr Sizwe Mathebula hosts vibrant Easter Tournament
Big cash prizes were up for grabs at the Easter Tournament in Overline Sports Ground .
Ward 17 Clr Sizwe Mathebula brought the community of Emalahleni together for an Easter Tournament filled with loads of entertainment and prizes.Held on April 6 at Overline Sports Ground, Mathebula said he hosted the event to celebrate Easter Monday and keep members of the community entertained and engaged in sports and arts.
“We all know that today it’s family day and we are from churches, so I felt that we must at least gather as a community and celebrate Easter Monday,” Mathebula said.
The event featured a top-three soccer tournament between Real Ovies, Kamgewane FC, and Ntaks FC. It also had a top-three netball tournament between Real Ovies, Rising Stars, and Thushanang. Between their tough matches, they also had exciting performances from the local gumboots and traditional dance teams.

The prizes up for grabs were R3 000 in cash for the number one soccer team and R2 000 cash for the best team in netball.
Mathebula explained that through the event, they aimed to promote sports in the youth and keep them busy with something positive.
“We believe that sport is a unifier, because apart from all the challenges we may have, we still need to take part in sport,” he said.
“We’re doing this with great hope that we’ll get the Percy Taus of tomorrow.”
