Man nabbed for alleged possession of unlicensed ammunition

Witbank SAPS is urging residents to avoid finding themselves in possession of such items if it’s not lawfully so.

Witbank SAPS has arrested a man in Extension 5 after he was allegedly found in possession of unlicensed ammunition during a late night patrol.


According to the police, officers were performing their duties in the area on June 3 at around 23:15 when they stopped a vehicle for inspection.


Upon searching the driver, police discovered one live round of ammunition and a cartridge.


The suspect reportedly claimed that the ammunition did not belong to him but to another individual.


However, he was unable to provide a clear explanation as to why it was in his possession.

The man was arrested instantly and taken into custody.


Police confirmed that the case is under investigation and that the suspect will face charges related to the unlawful possession of ammunition.
