Home Affairs opens this weekend ahead of voter registration weekend

The public is reminded that more than 370,000 IDs are awaiting collection nationwide–make a turn and check yours.

The Department of Home Affairs has confirmed that offices across South Africa, including eMalahleni, will be open this weekend to support the voter registration weekend.

Voter registration weekend is scheduled for June 20 and 21.

Residents are encouraged to visit their nearest Home Affairs office between 08:00 and 17:00 during this period.

The special opening is aimed at ensuring that citizens are able to apply for or collect their Smart IDs in time for the upcoming voter registration weekend.Those who have not yet applied for Smart IDs will be able to do so, while applicants who have already submitted their applications can collect their Smart IDs if they are ready.Nationwide, more than 370,000 Smart IDs are awaiting collection.
