Armed robbery threat lingers in eMalahleni
Police are calling on the community to always be on the lookout, as armed robbers seem to be on full-time duty.
The Witbank SAPS is calling on residents to remain vigilant as armed robberies persist in eMalahleni.
On July 18, police confirmed that a case of armed robbery was opened following an incident near a fuel station on Eddie Street in the CBD.
According to the police, a man reported that he was walking towards the garage at approximately 23:00 when he was confronted by two men. One of them allegedly held the victim at gunpoint, while the second suspect grabbed him from behind and demanded his cellphone.
The duo reportedly took his cellphone from his pocket before fleeing the scene. Police confirmed that no injuries were sustained during the incident and the suspects remain at large.

Police investigations are ongoing, and authorities have urged members of the public to assist with any information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible.
The Witbank SAPS further advises residents to remain crime-conscious.
“Never walk around alone, and don’t talk to strangers. Be on the lookout for suspicious cars or people,” said the SAPS in its safety tips, adding that people must walk in well-lit, busy streets and in groups, if possible.
