Witbank High keeps Nedbank Cup dreams alive
A win and a draw on home soil were enough to send Witbank High School through to the next round of Nedbank Cup qualifying.
Witbank High School secured passage to the next stage of the SAFA Nkangala Nedbank Cup qualifiers after an unbeaten performance on home soil.
The team kept its Nedbank Cup hopes alive after winning the Group 4C qualifiers held at Witbank High School on Sunday. The school side progressed to the next round following an impressive day of football against Emalahleni Ambassadors FC and Nkangala TVET College FC.
Crucial win seals top spot
The action started with a 3-3 draw between Witbank High School and Emalahleni Ambassadors FC. Emalahleni Ambassadors FC then suffered a 5-0 defeat to Nkangala TVET College FC.
With qualification at stake, Witbank High School rose to the occasion in its encounter against Nkangala TVET College FC. The hosts secured a 4-2 victory to finish on top of the group and book their place in the next phase of the competition.

Road to the national stage
The Group 4C fixtures formed part of the SAFA Nkangala Nedbank Cup Fixture 2026/27 Season, with Witbank High School hosting all three matches on the day. Witbank High School will now advance to face the winners from other Nkangala local groups as the race continues for a place in the national Nedbank Cup competition.

According to the tournament structure, amateur and regional league teams must progress through several qualifying stages for an opportunity to reach the prestigious national knockout tournament, where qualifying sides can potentially face Premier Soccer League giants such as Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
