Rising Star Tournament brings padel players together for a day of sport
The tournament featured ladies' and men's teams who competed for awesome prizes.
Femme & Co, founded by Buhlebonke Nxumalo, recently hosted its first Rising Star Tournament, bringing together padel players from eMalahleni and beyond for a day of fun competition.
Hosted on September 12 at Padel 24 Witbank, the tournament saw strong participation from 12 ladies’ teams and 24 men’s teams.
“Femme & Co is mainly for women, but then we thought we shouldn’t leave the men out, which is how we ended up having a Rising Star Tournament that includes both men and women,” the founder said.
The organisation partnered with different organisations that sponsored prizes, which contributed to the winners’ rewards such as duffel bags, suitcases, trophies, non-alcoholic sparkling wine, gym vouchers, and sunglasses.

The winners also got cash prizes derived from the registration fees paid by the participants.

Buhlebonke’s husband and business partner, Alex Nxumalo, said the event was about more than just sport.
“There’s no better thing that brings people together than sports, food, music, and culture, so we thought why not padel?” Alex said.
“We want to have a place where everyone can commune in a safe and proper environment.”
Following the success of this first Rising Star Tournament, the organisers said more is still to come.
