4 eMalahleni learners set to showcase innovation at International Science Fair
Four local learners are set to represent Mpumalanga Nkangala at the Eskom Expo International Science Fair.
Learners from various schools across the City of Coal are among those from the Nkangala District set to make their mark at the Eskom Expo International Science Fair (ISF).
These young scientists qualified for the ISF, taking place from September 29 to October 2 at Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre in Boksburg.
Finalists represent Nkangala district
The four learners representing Nkangala at Eskom Expo region are Shalom Lasimu, Usapholwami Nkosi and Lihlelethu Thandiwe Shabalala from Hoërskool Generaal Hertzog, and Tshepisho Vuyo Nkosi from Zacheus Malaza Secondary School.

These finalists have progressed through the Eskom Expo journey, developing their ideas through workshops, district expos and regional science fairs while using feedback and continued research to strengthen their projects.
Expo highlights STEMI innovation
In a statement, the Eskom Expo said: “Representing Eskom Expo regions across South Africa, the finalists will showcase research spanning science, technology, engineering, mathematics and innovation (STEMI). At the ISF, they will present and defend their work, engage with peers from South Africa and abroad, and compete for medals, awards and further opportunities.”
