Back to School campaign continues

The purpose of the campaign is to fight against issues that include the spirit of bullying and misbehaviour of learners towards educators.

Emalahleni Men of Destiny took an initiative to embark on a Back to School campaign.

The purpose of the campaign, which started on January 7, according to Pastor Ignatius Mahlangu, founder of the organisation is to fight against the spirit of bullying, misbehaviour of learners towards educators, high rate of teenage pregnancies, and gangsterism which disturb the education and put educators under pressure.

“We heard in many schools around Mpumalanga and other provinces where learners stabbed each other. Therefore parents, let us not fold our arms if everything went well in our society. No child is safe in this situation. As a men’s organisation we will not tolerate this behaviour by some learners, especially bullying and gangsterism,” Pastor Mahlangu said.

Pastor Mahlangu added to say that schools are a very important institution in society and parents must ensure that children are protected at all times.

He said parents are the first teachers of their children and they must always be involved in their children’s lives.

During the launch of the campaign, participants complained about young mothers as a result of teenage pregnancy, with the results of children growing up without both parents; their concern is that of children born out of marriage.

“Lastly as an organisation, we condemn the spirit of children being abused by their own parents and family members. Instead of spending money on alcohol and entertainment, let’s invest our money in developing our children in education and sports. We need to be proud of our children; children are a blessing from God. Children need love and protection from both parents and the community. As parents we need to be responsible to our children,” concluded Pastor Mahlangu.
