‘No bail’ – community pickets outside Witbank Court over Siyanqoba house robbery and rape case
Residents picket outside the Witbank Magistrate’s Court, opposing bail in a house robbery and rape case from Siyanqoba.
Tensions are high outside the Witbank Magistrate’s Court this morning as community members gathered to oppose bail for one of the suspects accused of raping a woman during a house robbery in Siyanqoba.
This comes after a house robbery and rape case reported on September 21 at approximately 00:10.
According to the police, three suspects broke into her home while she was sleeping with her children.

She reported that after hearing a knock at the door and remaining silent, the suspects smashed a bedroom window to gain entry.
Fearing for her children’s safety, she moved them to another room before the suspects confronted her.
One of the men allegedly pointed a firearm at her and demanded money. She was then forced into another bedroom, where she was allegedly raped by all three suspects.

Two of the men were reportedly wearing balaclavas, while one was not.
Police said the suspects fled with a plasma television, cellphones, a WiFi router, and a gas cylinder.
One suspect has since been arrested and appeared in court, while the other two suspects remain unidentified.
“We are here to support our sister who was raped. We are saying no to GBV,” said a community member who requested anonymity.
