Community in Blue nab zero contraband in Greendale School safety sweep
All clear at Greendale School as officials undertake safety searches of Grade 8 learners.
Witbank Police, with the Witbank CPF and Polsek Asada Security K9 Dog Unit, teamed up to conduct a safety search at Greendale involving Grade 8 learners who were on their way to attend a school camp.
The operation on March 19 formed part of the Adopt-a-Cop School Project, a crime prevention initiative aimed at strengthening cooperation between schools, the police, and the community to create safer learning environments and to prevent youth crime.
The programme focuses on building partnerships between police officers and schools while educating learners about crime prevention and responsible behaviour.

During the visit, members conducted a controlled search of the learners and their belongings to ensure that no dangerous weapons, drugs, or other prohibited items were brought onto the camp premises.
The search was done in a professional and respectful manner, prioritising the safety and wellbeing of the learners.
The K9 Dog Unit also participated in the operation, using trained detection dogs to assist in ensuring that the bags and the learners’ belongings were free from illegal substances or other harmful items.
The presence of the K9 Unit further strengthened the effectiveness of the safety measures and served as an educational experience for the learners.
