Makhudu brothers laid to rest

The brothers, Kgomotso and Mohapi Makhudu died in an accident that occurred on the N12 near Benoni.

The community of Emalahleni came together to bid a final farewell to two young brothers, Kgomotso and Mohapi Makhudu, who tragically lost their lives in a road accident.


The funeral service was held on April 2 at the Civic Theatre, where family, friends, classmates, and members of the community gathered to celebrate the lives of the duo.


During the service, people shared their heartfelt memories, noting that the brothers’ lives were well-lived, yet cut too short.

The brothers lost their lives in an accident on March 28, around 20:30 on the N12 near Benoni.
According to their friend, Sphiwe Mabena, the siblings had exited their vehicle after it experienced mechanical failure around 20:30 when they were struck by an oncoming car.


“We are still in shock. This feels so unreal,” Mabena said.


Kgomotso was a former learner at Hoërskool Patriot, having matriculated in 2021.
His younger brother, Mohapi, was a current Grade 10 learner at the same school, where he served as a member of the student representative council.
