Dignity Kitchen Drive serves up love and warmth in Emalahleni

Residents were gifted with clothes and food parcels during the drive led by different local organisations.

Organisations from Ward 7 in Emalahleni recently dedicated an afternoon to clothing and feeding vulnerable residents in Emalahleni.

According to Kopano Mojele from Thumathina Mzansi, the Dignity Kitchen Drive held on April 17 at Emsagweni was aimed at assisting community members who are unemployed, independent but struggling, and the homeless.

“We do these outreaches to help people who are struggling to make ends meet,” Kopano said.

Reitumetse Nkambule, Koketso Nobela, Karabo Mariri, and Prudence Kgwedi.

Through the initiative, the organisations, which included the Amabutho, Thumathina Mzansi, and K Mother of Nations Foundation (KMONF), among others, donated clothes and some food parcels to residents.

“We also do different programmes in our ward; this was not the first one,” Kopano said.

Not only were the residents clothed and fed, but they also had fun singing, dancing, and praying.
KMONF founder Koketso Nobela expressed what a blessing it was for them to be part of an initiative that feeds the community physically and emotionally.

“This initiative was all about giving love to the community of Emsagweni, to portray the love of Christ to them and to give them hope,” Koketso said. “As KMONF ambassadors, we served wholeheartedly with joy and dedication, and collaborations are good because they display unity in the field, and with them, we can serve more people.”

The organisers appreciated everyone who contributed to the success of the outreach, particularly the community for showing up, because it wouldn’t have been a success without them.
