Residents take to Christiaan de Wet Street to get the mayor’s attention

Residents had enough of empty promises and empty taps. They demand answers from the municipality.

Residents in Ext 10 have been without water for seven days, prompting a protest in the early hours of this morning.

Frustrated community members barricaded the busy intersection at Christiaan de Wet Street, bringing traffic to a complete standstill.

They demand to speak to the mayor, Clr Vusi Nhlapo, about the persisting water issue in the area.

“We don’t get answers, and we’ve had enough,” said resident Pat Modubu. “Speaking to the mayor feels fruitless – we want President Cyril Ramaphosa to intervene.”
