Trial date for alleged serial rapist moved to October
Survivors and affected families continue to await justice after the trial of Nkosi was postponed to October.
The Kwanele-Mama Foundation has announced a change in the trial date of Cascar Nkosi, who is facing 26 serious charges, including multiple counts of rape and kidnapping involving children.
Nkosi was initially expected to stand trial at the Middelburg High Court from May 18 until June 12. The matter will now commence on October 19 and conclude on November 6.
According to the Foundation, the postponement follows the recent appointment of a new legal representative by Nkosi.
The newly appointed advocate requested additional time to study the case and familiarise himself with the details.
Nkosi is facing 13 counts of rape and 13 counts of kidnapping involving children aged between seven and 13 years old.

He also faces a separate charge of rape and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm involving his wife.
The trial follows Nkosi’s arrest in January 2025 while he was attending an unrelated assault case in Vosman.
Police investigations later linked him to at least 10 reported cases of sexual assault and abduction across eMalahleni and Mhluzi dating back to 2023.
The foundation said the matter had initially been moved to 2028 before intervention and engagements with relevant parties resulted in the trial being brought forward to October 2026.
