Only flu-symptoms found at Witbank High

The Adopt-a-Cop initiative remains a commendable project that strenghtens relationships between local schools and law enforcement

Last week, SAPS and the community in blue conducted an unannounced search at the school.

“We are proud of Witbank High,” – This was the message from Adopt-a-Cop and police spokesperson Warrant Officer David Ratau after a search at the high school.

“To maintain the integrity of the operation, no teachers or learner leaders were informed about the search beforehand. This allowed the process to be conducted fairly and transparently,” was the message from the school.

Only three vapes were found, and some unauthorised caps and beanies found in learners’ bags were confiscated during the search.

“A bag containing all confiscated items was officially handed over thereafter. The necessary disciplinary processes have already been implemented for the individuals involved. This reflects the positive culture we continue to build as a school community committed to discipline, accountability, and excellence.”

A special thank you was extended to the school’s principal, Mr Oskin Usinga, the leadership team, and the school safety committee for continuously prioritising the safety, well-being, and discipline of our learners.

“We thank our learners, parents, SAPS, and the broader community for standing together with us in the fight against substance abuse, not only within our school but also in our surrounding community.”
