Samurai Karate Dojo shines at Gauteng Regional Championships
The karatekas brought home a haul of medals from regional karate champs.
Samurai Warriors Karate Dojo proudly represented eMalahleni at the Gauteng Regional Karate Championships, delivering an outstanding performance and securing second place overall among the top 10 dojos.
The dojo accumulated an impressive 1 087 points, finishing just 71 points behind the first place at the championships on June 6.
The team brought home an incredible medal haul of nine gold medals, 14 silver medals, and 12 bronze medals in both the kata and kumite divisions.
Gold medal performances were achieved by: Lusinda Underhay from Shotokan World Karate-Do Federation (SWKF) took two gold medals.
From Samurai Warriors, Tannassia Marx and Kelvin Vorster also grabbed two gold medals each.
Simone Stander and Mukhethwa Ndou from Samurai Do Warriors took gold in kumite, and Rudi Botha took gold in inclusive kata.
Skyla Vorster and Veronica Oosthuizen from Samurai Warriors took two silver medals each.
Simone Stander, Chantelle Vorster, Rorisang Makola, Pethogo Mogola, Anwen du Toit, Jaden Botha, Unarine Ndou, Lucky Nkosi, and Deni Madzynya from Samurai Warriors each secured one silver medal.
Ewan Koekemoer from SWKF Dojo took one silver medal.

Bronze medalists included Samurai Warriors’ Mukhethwa Ndou, Rudi Botha, Chantelle Vorster, Jaden Botha, Deni Madzynya, sensei Rudy Jacobs, Dira Sello and Lizani van der Merwe.
Chanelle Breytenbach and Haylen Marx took two bronze medals each.
The dojo extends its heartfelt congratulations to every athlete who stepped onto the tatami, as well as sincere appreciation to the parents, coaches, and supporters who contributed to this success.
