Motorist flees as armed robbers attack him outside his home

Witbank SAPS is investigating a case of attempted murder and armed robbery after a man was robbed of his cellphone at gunpoint.

A man escaped with his life on the evening of July 31 as two men reportedly attacked him outside his residence in the CBD.

According to the police, the incident unfolded at around 21:30 when the man stopped outside his driveway to open a remote-controlled gate.

The man told the police that before he could enter, he was approached by two men who held him at gunpoint and demanded his cellphone.

After handing over the phone, one of the men reportedly fired a shot inside the vehicle.

The victim managed to escape from the vehicle and flee with his car keys.

A case of attempted murder and armed robbery was opened, and an investigation is underway. No arrests have been made so far.
