Grade Rs explore “Jobs That People Do” at Curro
Throughout the week, learners engaged with professionals from different fields who taught them about the different yet crucial roles they play in communities.
Curro Bankenveld’s Grade R learners enjoyed an inspiring week of meeting professionals from various fields as part of their “Jobs That People Do” theme aimed at enlightening them on the important role that each occupation plays in communities.
The fun began with a visit from an attorney on August 3, who introduced the learners to the important work attorneys do and the responsibility of helping people through the law.
The following day, a geologist fascinated the Grade Rs with lessons about the different layers of the earth, coal, mining, and the importance of safety in the mining industry.
On August 5, they were joined by a professional from a restaurant who talked about the exciting world of hospitality.
She explained what it takes to run a successful restaurant and the skills needed to become a chef.

On August 6, the school principal, Mr Corné Viljoen, spoke to the learners about the important role of a principal and how leadership helps a school community grow and thrive.
They wrapped up the week on August 7 with Sterling Access showcasing their cherry picker and teaching the learners about abnormal transport and the operation of large specialised equipment.
“Experiences like these help our children connect classroom learning with the real world and spark curiosity about the many opportunities that lie ahead,” the school said. “We are incredibly proud of our Grade R learners, who have asked thoughtful questions, shown great enthusiasm, and embraced every learning opportunity throughout this memorable career week.”
