Five months later, Jéan-Andre Jewellers robbers are still at large
As the search for the remaining Jéan-Andre Jewellers robbers continues, SAPS is calling on members of the public to assist with information.
It’s five months later and police are still searching for remaining suspects after three died during a shootout which resulted from an armed business robbery at Jéan-Andre Jewellers.
The Mpumalanga SAPS spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo, confirmed that during the incident in which a jewellery store at the store was robbed on April 15, three suspects died at the scene and the other suspects have remained at large since then.
The violent incident unfolded when a group of men stormed the jewellery store, holding a security guard and an employee at gunpoint before raiding the shop.
As the robbers fled in different vehicles, an armed response unit intervened, resulting in a shootout that claimed the lives of three suspects.
At the crime scene, police recovered three pistols, a rifle, and rounds of ammunition believed to have been used by the suspects.
A vehicle with false number plates, which was also used as a getaway vehicle, was recovered, with some of the stolen jewellery inside.
