Missing Ga-Nala man identified after months in mortuary

A Ga-Nala family has finally received closure after discovering their missing son’s body had been lying unidentified in a mortuary since April.

The body of an 18-year-old Ga-Nala man reported missing in May has been identified after lying in the Bethal Mortuary since April.


Kriel police confirmed the breakthrough after the family identified and claimed the body on October 5.
According to police, the teenager was fatally shot in April after being found intruding on a residential property in Maple Street.


Police subsequently issued a public notice regarding the unidentified deceased, which led to the family coming forward.


At the time of publication, police confirmed the body was handed over to the family for burial, while further circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
