Mbekezeli Magagula secures top-eight finish at national cross-country event in Midrand

The young Mpumalanga runner caps off a stellar cross-country season with a standout performance at Curro Midrand.

Nkangala Athletic Academy (NAA) athlete Mbekezeli Magagula finished eighth in the boys U12 3km at the South African Schools Cross-country Championships at Curro Midrand on October 3, continuing his rise as one of Mpumalanga’s promising young athletes.

The result follows his gold medal at the Mpumalanga School Cross-country Championships in September.

Future of athletics

He has consistently delivered strong performances across numerous races and is the reigning Mpumalanga boys U12 cross-country champion.

“Mbekezeli is the future of NAA and Mpumalanga athletics,” said coach Emmanuel Mabaso. “He not only excels in athletics but is also academically strong, particularly in mathematics.”
