Mercedes has aligned itself with many fashionable lifestyle elements such as fashion week where it is a main sponsor as well as with luxury living.
The brand oozes fashion and style, look at their current line up of hot metal. With this fashion lifestyle it was only appropriate that Mercedes-Benz McCarthy Kunene Witbank held a fashion show in celebration of winning the McCarthy dealership of the year award.
The event took place at the dealership where specially invited vip guests experienced the latest in local fashion from designers such as Tag-Inn and Captured Style as well as being introduced to some of the brands motoring icons. Emalahleni FMs DJ Kgaugelo and his stylish news anchor Sindisiwe took on the roll of hosting the evening.
The fashion that was displayed had all the woman in the audience spellbound, the attractive models had the men all distracted. Well, actually there were different models on the night doing the distracting.
I was invited to do what I do best, talk about cars. Mercedes-Benz pre-owned had 13 cars which were paraded in front of the guests while fashion models strutted their stuff on the catwalk behind. I spoke about each car along with the hosts. They asked the questions and I answered them. We kept it fun and engaged the audience.
The high performance AMG models really stood out and were loved by the crowed. We revved the engines and gave people a little taste of what theses cars are really about. It is with no doubt that the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG was the crowed favorite. It was the last hot model to come up. As it drove up the audience erupted in applause. It’s monstrous V8 is fitted with two turbos and produces around 400kW and over 700Nm of torque. Those figures propel this mammoth block from 0-100kph in just under 5 seconds.
The G63 AMG is based on the manufacturers tried and tested off-road icon known as the G-wagon. The AMG version, believe it or not can actually go off-road where it is rather capable. However it was the roar of the engine that got everyone hot and bothered at the event. There are two side pipes on either side that protruded just before the rear wheels. The deep, throaty sound rumbles deep into your soul.
