Reliance is needed in our everyday lives because we are only as strong as the people we surround ourselves with and these days, strength is very scarce. I might come across as a bitter and negative person when I give my opinion on my life and everything happening, but hear me out. Like I said last week I hate forcing positivity on myself and others so I tend to look at the world through ‘normal tinted’ lenses which makes me a realist.
Buddy, my dog is loyal to a tee. He will jump through hoops of fire and destroy enemies with his vicious bite…if I give him enough food. All jokes aside, he is loyal and will never falter in his unspoken promise to me by standing with me, supporting and helping out with anything. If it’s so easy for my puppy to do it; why the hell is it so hard for us human beings to do it? Like I’ve said before, we have grown selfish and it’s not (entirely) our fault. We get influenced every day to look after ourselves and disregard anyone or thing that can come between that. We focus on what is immediate and instantly satisfying and nothing more. We forget the bigger picture and when we need help what do we do? We rely on others and then expect them to do what we can’t: help without expectance.
I will do anything for my friends and family to the extent of my abilities, even when it’s not being reciprocated but that’s because I believe in ‘what you put in you’ll get out’ so when I am faced with a choice of ‘should I help?’ my answer almost always will be a resounding yes. Thing is, I do not expect that from anybody else and not because I have grown to only rely on myself, but because I cannot expect people to react, live or see things the way I do and trying to convert a human being these days is as impossible as trying to get our government to be truthful.
Buddy is eagerly anticipating his food for the day. I wonder how many hoops I can get him to jump through?
