The smell of desperation

At one point in our lives we have all felt that need for more

At one point in our lives we have all felt that need for more

As I’m sitting behind my guitar, trying to write the next international hit song (I’m still getting there), I realise that I have become so desperate to succeed with this endeavour that I have seemed to lose track of why I started in the beginning.

This phenomenon occurs on a daily basis, with almost all people in life getting side tracked or misguided from their original ‘mission’. Most of the time it’s not our fault, I mean if you look at Buddy he has the intention of being a good boy and not barking at every single living thing imaginable but, then he does it because it is in his genes.

Just like in Buddy, it’s in us as well. Society doesn’t allow us to be less than perfect and this immense pressure weighs heavily on all especially when it comes to the single most evil thing on earth: money. Money makes everything in life easier but also makes the rest hard and the lengths that some will go to for that quick buck is scary.

This morning a journalist came into the office and showed us photos of a truck tyre syndicate that steal tyres in order to sell and provide for their families. Theft is wrong and crime doesn’t pay but one has to wonder; when you’re pushed to the limit, what would you do to survive? I am in no way condoning Robin Hood type behaviour or saying that all criminals only steal to provide for family but I am speaking from experience where I have seen good men fall because of money. I have seen them driven to lengths where the line of consequence was worn thin and their guilt pushed aside.

Many times it can be out of our hands and not because of our actions and that’s when you need support more than ever because a friend in need is a friend indeed. Buddy is looking at me whilst I sit behind my guitar almost like he wants to help me with lyrics. Surely I can borrow some words from another song? No, then I would just come across as being Despacito and stealing the ideas from others.
