Runaway train

How tired have you grown from running away?

How tired have you grown from running away?

Buddy is looking at me, panting heavily and still has the guts to bark that I throw his ball over and over. See he doesn’t give up, he just wants to run after and chase his ball the whole time even if it’s the same routine of throwing, running, grabbing and rinse and repeat. Sometimes I wish I had the persistence of him in not stopping no matter what. Life has a way of making us become complacent or not facing things head on so instead we decide to just put our tails between our legs and run away to face it another day,

This week there was a hit and run that occurred where a driver smashed into another vehicle and instead of stopping to find out the damage and if the other occupant is ok, he put his foot flat in the corner and fled the scene. See much like this man, we sometimes decide flight is the only way out and it’s understandable, not after an accident but I mean sometimes fight against certain mundane things that most likely will be better if face straight away. Our society have become very ‘soft’ and sensitive so much that confrontation is not accepted, but avoided. Not just confrontation but any adversity is immediately met with a shoulder shrug and an ‘ok then’ and we move on. We are not like we were; we have become avoiders.

We avoid raising our disdain over anything that can be seen as too much of a struggle and I really can sympathise with that. I was in a week long struggle with Telkom about a physical line at my residence. After phoning every single day, holding the line for 45min each time (patience is key) and being told by each and every consultant that they cannot help me move my line, I still carried on to fight for my rights. If I knew what struggle I had to go through beforehand, I would honestly do it again because that feeling I got when I finally ‘won’? Pure bliss.

Buddy is finally tired and passed out on the floor and I feel like I can still go for a little bit more. Maybe I should give Telkom a call.
