Judge not

Before you point your fingers, make sure your hands are clean.

Before you point your fingers, make sure your hands are clean.

Every day, without realising, we all play the role of the judge. We will judge someone on what they wear, what car they drive, what food they eat, what they say or do and through all of our judging what do we get in return? Nothing. It’s the single biggest waste of our time and energy but still it’s like a sport and we are all playing to win.

I say we, because I will be hard pressed to find anybody who doesn’t at some point in their day start to criticize someone or something that doesn’t fit into their framework.

Recently a colleague of mine did a story about a woman who makes adult entertainment online and also does online marketing for websites in the same sphere. Firstly when you hear of someone doing that you gasp, spill your tea and then start hurling your own opinions about how YOU could never do something like that and HOW can she objectify herself to that?

Thing is, I have to commend any person who despite our circumstances and the way our lives are changing every day, despite jobs becoming more scarce than ever and despite people struggling financially still finds a way and means to support themself and their family regardless of what they actually do. They chose to do whatever it takes instead of stealing or begging and going down a path you can’t get back from.

See it’s all relative in my eyes. Even if I can see why someone would do something it does not necessarily mean that I condone it or support it, but I can see that judging it will not change anything, just my own bitterness and negativity and that’s something we can all agree we can use less of.
