Anderson first up on Wednesday

South African tennis star Kevin Anderson will play his second round match at Wimbledon on Wednesday afternoon.

The 20th seed, who defeated Slovakian Aljaz Bedene in straight sets 6-3 7-5 6-2 in the first round, will tackle Edouard Roger-Vasselin.

The Frenchman earned his place in the second round with a straight-sets 7-6 (7-1) 6-2 6-4 win over Filippo Volandri of Italy.

The players will take to Court 18 at 12.30 pm South African time.

Anderson’s compatriot Chanelle Scheepers defeated American Christina McHale 6-3 6-3 yesterday to set up an imposing second round clash with first seed Serena Williams.

Scheepers will also be in action later today in the women’s doubles, as she and Russian partner Vera Dushevina team up to face the German-Japanese combination of Annika Beck and Kurumi Nara. Their match is the last scheduled for Court 4.
