Ivan still remains in the lead

The racing took place on Sunday, May 4 and local racer Ivan Terblanche lead the L1 class championship, John-Ross Duncan worked hard on set up to chase down Ivan; it was a close battle but Ivan still managed to stay in front.

The L2 class was won by Jock and Hennie with Steve and Linda in second, Kallie and
Danie had their first race in a new moon chaser, they finished in third place.

The L4 class saw Bart in a new Thunder Shark racing boat. They had a good start going into the first turn in leading position but pushing too hard he flipped his boat. As the race was stopped rescue moved in to asses the situation; they were both fine no injuries.

The L4 class was won by JP and Angelo, L5 was won by local Petrus Whiteman and Leon and in second place were Edwin and Luan.
The 85/90hp class had some heart stopping action with local racer Eddie Dalglish defending his championship against Willie Groenenstein who managed to take two out of three heats and then come in first.

Local racer Lee Sampson barrel rolled his boat and luckily escaped with no injuries and was ready to race the next heat taking fifth place with Lionel Duncan in fourth and Mone Harold in third.

Juniors had an exciting race with local rider Tristian Barham in first and Geraldine Whiteman in second place.
Tristian has been racing for the last nine months; he was overwhelmed with his win.

“I enjoy the racing a lot and I just practice the weekend before a race,” said Tristian.
F30 overall for the day was Christian Willemse and in second place Zandelee Brouwer.
The inflatables had an eventful day with ten boats on the water.

Look out for Tristian and many of the other riders on May 24 at Barham Bay for the fun day that is being held there.
