First time angler Sandra wins awards
Sandra Fourie, proud member of the Highveld Angling Association, won the awards for overall ladies’ angler and best up and comer along with other members who won awards at their year-end ceremony.
Sandra started on the adventure a year ago with the influence of her husband Matie Fourie, who trained her starting off by using a golf ball to help her cast.
Fishing was a way to bond with her new husband and also to meet new people who had similar interests. They recently got married on May 17 and her husband is proud of her achievements and she encourages other people to give it a try.
Sandra says her secret to achieving these awards is regular attendance which normally lasts 24 hours, using the right bait in the right dam and simply beginner’s luck. She mentioned that fishing is a relaxing experience which helps connects one to nature especially the fish. She has caught 28 fish and her proudest moment was when she caught her first fish which was a carp.
Sandra is very enthusiastic about fishing and says her fishing journey has just begun and is looking forward to more experiences.
