Spurs breathe in victory
Witbank Spurs hosted Black Leopards over the weekend and recorded a two zero win.
On Sunday, September 21 Witbank Spurs had a tough encounter but the boys stuck to the game plan.
Leopards started like a house on fire dominating possession but Spurs’ defence led by Sibusiso ‘Mbuzana’ Mbonani (captain) and Humphrey ‘Obua’ Khoza stood their ground.
Spurs managed to break a dreadlock after an own goal by Black Leopards’ defender.
Xoli Themba, who was named a man of the match, scored a scorcher to make it 2-0.
“We could have scored another three in the second half, but Randy Ngobe and new signee Gift Madigwa, who was making his debut, fluffed their chances after being one on one with the ’keeper,” said George Khumalo, Spurs PRO.
This week Spurs will be visiting log leaders, Milano United in Phillipi Stadium on Friday night.
They managed to look at them playing last week when they won their game in Pretoria, and have an idea of what to expect in Cape Town.
“We are planning to break a duck of not winning in Cape Town by recording our first win this Friday. The boys have shown hunger and they have promised to break their legs if there is a need to get a result,” continued Khumalo.
The players and management of the team would like to say thank you to the community of eMalahleni and everyone who came to the stadium last Sunday to show support.
