Afriforum took the idea of tree planting day and extended it to run throughout the whole of September.
On September 30 Afriforum planted two trees at Laerskool Kragbron as part of their month long project of making a green tomorrow.
A Kiepersol and Red Essenhout were planted on the school’s grounds and Mr Leon Villiers (Afriforum secretary) gave a talk on the importance of trees in nature and asked children why they thought trees were so important.

Members of Afriforum plant a Red Essenhout at Laerskool Kragbron as part of their Arbour month project. Here are from left: Leon Villiers (Afriforum Witbank – secretary), Elsabie Pitzer (neighbourhood watch – secretary), Michael Visagie (Neighbourhood watch – chairperson), Willie van dyk, Ernest Phokane, Dylan Wood (headboy) and Kayla Smith (headgirl).
Afriforum Witbank has donated a total of 15 trees to the community of eMalahleni, over 650 trees were planted throughout western Mpumalanga and country wide the number of trees planted is well over a 1 000.
“Our aim is to encourage people to plant trees and save trees as they are vital to life,” said Mr Villiers.
This annual effort by Afriforum promises a greener tomorrow.
