Leven launches latest single

A song that started four years ago, put Leven on the map and they are just going all the way forward.

Stan Kruger, who is the lead singer and also plays rhythm guitar, has a strong bond with the other band members. Vernon Swart (drummer), Rudi Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen (lead guitar) and Stan originally started the band. Michiel Krüger (bass guitar) and Boyagain Friday (keyboard and synth) joined shortly thereafter.

Today, Leven is a well-known name on the lips of youngsters and their musical journey has taken them to Gallo Records, who recently signed with the band.

The previous album they released was called ‘Fighting Hearts’ and before that they had two radio singles: ‘Take it back’ and ‘Starry Night’.

The next big thing for this local band is their latest single that will be launched on all digital media platforms, like iTunes, Google Play and more on Friday, November 17. Their latest hit is called ‘Here’s to You’, a song very close to Stan’s heart.

“I originally wrote this song for my mom. This song is for all parents going more than the extra mile for their children,” Stan said.

Here are the band members of Leven: Vernon Swart (drummer), Boyagain Friday (keyboard and synth), Stan Kruger (lead singer and rythm guitar), Rudi Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen (lead guitar) and Michiel Krüger (bass guitar).

Stan originally started ‘Fighting Hearts’ as a solo project, but then met Vernon and Rudi who joined him and they became Leven. Vernon came up with the name, which means ‘to live’ in Netherlands.

“We previously had interaction with Gallo Records when one of our previous singles was released and when we separated from our previous company, Gallo offered us a chance to go forward in the music industry,” Stan added.

The band has also played with some prominent names in the music industry, like Prime Circle, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Jack Parow, Elvis Blue and many more.

The five of them get together every Tuesday and practice for a minimum of three hours, to recap their old songs and get the hang of the new ones.

Their next show will be on Friday, November 24 at Brazen Head.
