Tsietsi’s uniqueness to the comedy industry

Tsietsi Matlakala’s anticipated ‘I found this funny’ one man show ticked all the boxes for uniqueness, greater laughter and giving back to the community.

The comedy show took place at The Ridge on May 11 and presented new aspects of telling jokes with a live music band and visuals.

“I have been doing shows for a lot of years and most of my jokes had music audios in it, so this time I decided to incorporate a live band to play music and graphics,” said Tsietsi.

He added: “I wanted to bring something unique into the comedy industry and I believe I am the first one to fuse jokes and music in one.”

Bishop Dununu Msibi opened the show with a prayer and was followed by comedy acts from various comedians such as international act George Kuda from Zimbabwe as the MC, Themba Jazz Nhlapo, Abuti Lolo from Secunda, Vusi Mongwe from Nelspruit, Legendary Sol from Kwa Guqa and 11-year-old Nkosana “Skhulu” from Hlalanikahle.

Tsietsi has started working with Preetha Maharaj, a community development enthusiast and she has so far managed to collect 250 magazines and over 150 reading books towards Tsietsi’s initiative to build a new arts, sports and educational centre in about two years.

Preetha’s daughter, Saiba Maharaj, the youngest author in Witbank, managed to donate five of her own books to the initiative.

Preetha said that is a continuous drive and they are still collecting more books for the initiative.

The community does not call Tsietsi the president of Mshika 89 (Hlalanikahle) for nothing. Hlalanikahle and the rest of eMalahleni is in a treat for the good things.
