Two business robberies reported in two days in eMalahleni

In both robberies, the suspects reportedly posed as customers.

Businesses are becoming targets of thieves and robbers daily in eMalahleni.

Two robberies in two days were reported at Witbank Police Station.

The first incident took place at the Central Business District (CBD) in Arras Street.

The victim (44) was on duty on Saturday, July 29, and was approached by two unknown suspects who threatened her with a firearm.

It is alleged that when the victim’s colleague unlocked the door to enter the office, two suspects were already inside.

The colleague said that the suspects posed as customers.

It is said the suspects demanded money from the two victims before they emptied one of the victim’s bags and stole their wallets, cellphones, charger, bankcards, and money before fleeing the scene.

In a separate incident that took place on Friday, July 28 a fashion store located in the CBD was also robbed.

This robbery took place on Botha Street at around 12:00.

The victim alleges he was on duty when one suspect entered the shop and instructed him to lie down on the floor.

According to him, other suspects entered the store shortly afterwards.

It is believed that the suspects helped themselves to clothes from the store before fleeing the scene.
