Zané van der Mescht uses pageant journey to support cancer patients
The Miss Witbank contestant said she hopes to raise between R20 000 and R40 000 before the end of October this year.
Miss Witbank Finalist Zané van der Mescht is using her pageant journey to show up for cancer patients.
The 22-year-old recently launched a fundraising drive with the sole goal of raising between R20 000 and R40 000 before the end of October for cancer patients and cancer-related charities.
“Reaching this goal is an important part of my Miss Witbank journey, but more importantly, it gives me the opportunity to use my platform to make a real difference in the lives of others,” she said.

Van der Mescht is calling on local businesses, schools, and community members to support her initiative in four ways.
The first is a 2027 Diary by Andries du Preez, selling for R420.
The second is the Pink Trees for Pauline campaign, where supporters can buy 2m of pink material for R80 to wrap around trees, turning the community pink as a symbol of hope, awareness, and support for cancer patients.

People can also buy a Cancer Patient Handmade Set for R200, which includes a bracelet, earrings and a headscarf made by cancer patients, with all proceeds going directly to them.
Lastly, the model said monetary donations of any amount are also welcome.
