One man was arrested and will appear in court in June

A 31-year-old man was arrested in Empangeni yesterday (Wednesday) for selling cigarettes under lockdown.

Police were tipped off by a member of the public, that Kildare Supermarket in President Swart Avenue, was stocking cigarettes and blatantly advertising them on their shelves despite the national ban on tobacco sales implemented at the beginning of lockdown.

The man was arrested for contravening the National Disaster Act.
